SPRING ROTATION SET
3/4 - @ MIN - D-Lowe
3/5 - vs. BC - Wake
3/5 - vs. NU - Schilling
3/6 - @ MIN - Kim
3/7 - vs. NYY - Arroyo

Pedro, of course, takes a much slower approach to spring training which is why he isn't in the first 5 to pitch. I wouldn't be surprised if he pitched soon after the first 5 games.

Good Malaska article

Not too many folks in RS Nation know about this guy. He seems like a solid young pitcher with alot of potential. I think he'll contribute some valuable middle releif innings. He still needs a nickname. Right now I'm thinking something along the lines of his name's similarity to the state of Alaska.

BRUINS LOSE TO HABS IN OT
3-2 on throwback jersey night. The Bruins need to pick it up a bit if they want to keep the 4th seed or move up to a division winning seed. They take on the Flyers this afternoon in a huge game.

CELTICS ACTUALLY WIN
Beleive me, this is news.

LAW WANTS NEW DEAL
Ty Law wants a higher, longer contract with the Pats. I think he deserves it but he needs to keep in mind that this is a team. He might wind up like Milloy and get enough money to buy a new HDTV, but he'll need to use it in order to see the Super Bowl.

DAMON LOOKS LIKE A SCRUB
Globe pic

All I gotta say is WOW! all the Boston girls might start liking the scrub look now. Good for me. I've been practicing the scrub look for years.

SOVEREIGN BANKING ON PUBLICITY WITH SOX CONTRACT
Sovereign Bank has signed a deal to be the only bank allowed to advertise during local broadcasts of Red Sox games. This should give the Sox some needed revenue. In support of this, this summer I'll start an account at sovereign. Fuck Cortland Federal Credit Union!

Globe Article

Y*NKS RELEASE BOONE, BERNIE GETS SURGERY
Aaron Fucking Boone has been released by the scum. They didn't have to pay him anyway cuz he violated his contract.

Bernie had an appendectimy. He'll be out for 3 weeks. I don't know if that's 3 weeks into the regular season or 3 weeks form now. Time will tell.

PEDRO REPORTS
So he wasn't involved in a crash in the DR, after all. Thank God.

Story

Nomar also talked to the media about the offseason rumors involving him.

Story

I literally can't wait for spring training games to be played. I have spring break during the first week and I'll enjoy spending my afternoons watching the boys down in Florida.

The Globe updated their spring training photo series with some new pictures including one of David McCarty pitching.

here they are

BRADY HAS MINOR SURGERY ON THROWING SHOULDER
Nothing to be worried about.

Article

PATS GET NEW LB COACH
The Pats hired Kent State head coach an Pees to coach the linebackers.

Article

BRUINS AND ISLANDERS DRAW
0-0, good goaltending and defense marked this game as well as a lengthy delay for ice repair. The globe says the Bruins may be close to getting either Sergei Gonchar or Brian Leetch. either player would be a fantastic addition and help our defense become a bit more offensive. I doubt Jacobs will spend the money tho.

XAVERIAN LOSES IN 1ST ROUND OF BBALL TOURNEY
Attleboro 72
XBHS 54

Attleboro's Jesse Martinez had 33 points

Xaverian hockey is in the D-1A tournament and will play Barnstable Saturday in Bourne.

The Super 8 has been reduced to 8 teams. Play begins Sunday at the Tsongas Arena.

ARSENAL ROLLING
My Arsenal boys beat Spanish Celta Vigo on Tuesday in the Champions' League. They're 5 points ahead of Manchester United in the English League and are the favorites to win the FA Cup. They beat Chelsea (the soccer equivalent of the Y*nkees, buying up all the talent) three times this year.

POSITION PLAYERS REPORT
That's about it.

EMBREE WANTS NEW DEAL
The only left handed pitcher (besides McCarty, haha) wants the Sox to give him a new contract.

Globe article

Basically he wants a longer term deal. At the moment he is signed with Boston for the remainder of the season with an option next year triggered by his making 50 appearances. With Foulke, Timline, and Williamson all competing to pitch the final innings of games, whether or not he gets 50 is still up in the air but I think he will. The Sox need him and should sign him long term.

BRUINS LOSE, FINALLY
Luongo played a great game and shutout the Bruins 2-0. They are playing the Islanders tonight in Nassau in a very important game for playoff seeding. The remaining 19 regular season games are very important for seeding. The Bruins are all but in the playoffs but getting home ice and playing weaker opponents could be crucial to any success the B's wish to attain.

SUPER 8
Yes I'm out of Massachusetts and yes I'm out of high school. But there's something about Mass. HS hockey that is wicked awsome. Here are the seeds for this year's prestigious D-1A Super 8 tournament

1. Catholic Memorial
2. BC High
3. Arlington Catholic
4. Hingham
5. Waltham
6. St. John's Fags
7. Belmont
8. Duxbury
9. Billerica
10. Framingham

X-MEN WINTER SPORTS
My alma mater, Xaverian Brothers High School, is the 8th seed in the D1 South basketball tourney. The HawX host Attelboro tonight. If they win, they'll play top seeded Silver Lake Thursday.

The hockey team will also be in the D1 tournament probably. They're ranked 14th by the Globe and 8 of the teams ahead of them are in the Super 8.

UVM TO JOIN HOCKEY EAST
The best conference in college hockey will add a 10th team in 2005-06. Vermont will move from the ECAC to Hockey East filling up the conference ranks with another good hockey school. This also adds a third team north of Massachusetts.

GEORGIE PORGIE RUNS CRYING TO SELIG
Boston Globe article

Apparently Steinfucker can't take the heat he's getting from John Henry. What a pussy. Is there any doubt that the Y*nkees are scum? This is all because Henry compared Steinfucker to Don Rickles. If you don't know who Don Rickles is, here are his works.

Speaking of the Globe, every now and then they put up pictures from Red Sox spring training. You can launch their picture viewer from the online sports page.

PEDRO UPDATE
Milford Daily News article.

He was perhaps going to report to Ft. Myers today but it's quite possibly the family medical problem has kept him detained longer than expected. According to David "Crusher" Ortiz, he's been throwing off a mound down in the DR so I'm not worried. Plus he's God so he has that goin for him.

BRUINS UPDATE
The Bruins got a point in their 12th straight game Saturday night against the Hurricanes in a 3-3 tie. The result is dissapointing considering that Carolina is terrible, but the Bruins will return home on fire. They play tonight against the Florida Panthers. After the game is a free concert by one of my favorite bands: Godsmack. I really wish I was back home for this game.

Here are the Northeastern Division standings:
1. Ottawa - 81 points
2. Toronto - 80 points
3. BOSTON - 78 points
4. Montreal - 66 points
5. Buffalo - 63 points

Here are the Eastern Conference standings:
